2008 Infiniti Ex35
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How does mobile key replacement work for the EX35?

Call me with your year, make, model, and VIN. I confirm the correct fob and blade for your specific EX35, and give you a price before I head out. When I arrive, I access the vehicle through the OBD port, register the new fob to the car's security system, cut the emergency insert blade, and test everything: lock, unlock, the remaining buttons, door handle touch unlock, and the start function. You get a fully working key.

Q: What do I need to have ready when you show up?

Your vehicle, a valid photo ID, and proof of ownership. Registration or title works fine. I pull the VIN from the dash plate or door jamb to confirm everything before I start. This is standard for any locksmith or dealer doing a key job. If the paperwork matches, we get started right away.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online for my EX35. Can I program it myself?

Not on this system. The 2008 EX35 Intelligent Key does not have a self-programming sequence you can run from the driver's seat. Some older Nissan and Infiniti models from earlier in that decade had ignition-turn relearn procedures, but the Intelligent Key generation your EX35 uses requires diagnostic equipment connected to the OBD port to register a new fob to the vehicle. If you already bought the fob, that is fine.

Q: My EX35 key fob range has gotten really short. It barely works past a few feet. What is going on?

Short range is almost always the battery going low before it fully fails. CR2032 cells can drop in output well before a voltage test shows them as dead. Swap the battery first. If range is still poor with a fresh CR2032, open the fob and check the contact clips. A slightly bent or tarnished clip causes weak signal even with a good battery seated.

2008 Infiniti Ex35 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was parked on a street in Wood Ranch on a weekday evening when a woman walked out to meet me at her driveway. She had a 2008 Infiniti EX35 and exactly one working key. No spare. She had been living that way for about two years, which is fine until it isn't.

Her original fob had started doing something owners of these describe a lot on the forums: intermittent start. She would press the button, the car would hesitate, and she would press it again. Sometimes it started right up. Sometimes it just sat there. She had already done the battery swap herself, which was the right call, and it helped for a while. But by the time she called me she wanted a second key made before the first one got any worse.

She mentioned she had called the dealer first. They wanted her to bring the car in, book an appointment, and wait. The price they quoted was enough that she went looking for another option.

I connected through the OBD port, read the vehicle data, and registered the new fob to the car. Cut the emergency blade to match, tested every button, walked the door handles for touch unlock, and confirmed the start. The whole thing ran about 35 minutes in her driveway.

She now has two working keys. The dealer quote crossed her mind again when I handed her the bill. She saved a good chunk and never had to leave Wood Ranch.

Infiniti Ex35 Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Do I need to bring my 2008 Infiniti EX35 somewhere to get a replacement key?▼

No. Everything comes to you. I carry the fob, the cutting equipment, and the programming tools in the van. Whether you are home in Wood Ranch, at work somewhere else in Simi Valley, or stuck in a parking lot, I come to the vehicle. Infiniti dealers require either a working key to drive in or a flatbed if you are locked out with no key. Mobile service skips all of that.
