2009 Infiniti Ex35 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A restaurant owner near the West Simi Valley side of town had been fighting his 2009 EX35 for a couple of weeks before he called me. Not a lockout, not a lost key.
Something more annoying: his Intelligent Key fob worked fine most of the time, then just did not. Door handles would not respond on the approach. Push-button start would sit there and do nothing. Then ten minutes later, everything worked like normal.
He had already been to the dealer. They told him the fob was failing and quoted him a number that made him pause. He bought a new CR2032 from a pharmacy, popped it in himself, and it helped for about three days. Then the same thing came back.
When I got to him in the parking lot, he handed me the fob and I opened it up right there on the hood of the car. The battery was seated, but the positive contact had a slight outward bow to it. Not enough to see at a glance, but enough to lose contact intermittently, especially when the fob flexed slightly in a pocket. I straightened the contact, cleaned both terminals, reseated the CR2032, and closed it back up.
Then I walked every function. All four buttons. Both door handles. The start button inside. Everything came back clean.
He did not need a new fob. He did not need a dealer visit. He needed someone to actually look at the problem instead of defaulting to a replacement sale. We were done in under twenty minutes, out in the parking lot, and he saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer was pointing him toward.
