I got a call from Carriage Square on a Tuesday afternoon. A guy had two fobs for his 2021 QX80 and one had stopped working entirely. Not weak range, not intermittent. Dead. He'd already swapped the CR2032 himself, watched a video, done it right, and it still did nothing.

The old dead one got wiped out of the system so it couldn't cause confusion later. Then I handed him the new key and walked every button. Lock, unlock, the full set. Started the QX80 three times from different spots in the parking area to confirm range.
He asked what the dealer would have done. I told him they'd have ordered the part, called him in a few days, and charged him a lot more for the privilege of waiting. He nodded like that was exactly what he'd assumed.
Thirty-five minutes total. He drove off with a working spare and a little peace of mind going back into his week.
