2025 Infiniti QX80 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
El Rio is about ten minutes from me on a normal evening. That particular Wednesday it was longer because of the traffic backing up off the freeway.
A woman had run into the shopping center for maybe thirty seconds to return a cart. Her 2025 QX80 was right there. Baby strapped into the rear seat, visible through the window, and the fob had gone completely unresponsive. Not low battery. Not interference. She pressed every button and got nothing. Doors locked. Car wasn't going anywhere.
She called EZ Car Keyz because the dealer was closed and she was not interested in a tow truck conversation. I told her I was coming and to stay with the car.
Getting the door open was the first thing, full stop. She had the baby out before I even set my bag down. Once that was handled and everyone was calm, I could actually look at the fob.
The battery read fine. The problem was the fob circuit itself. I diagnosed it on site and confirmed the board had failed rather than just the battery or the key's pairing. I built a replacement using the factory dealer part number for this generation, cut the emergency blade to match her vehicle, and programmed it through the OBD port with my diagnostic equipment. The whole programming sequence on the 2025 QX80 requires proper tooling because there is no ignition-turn self-programming sequence on a smart key system like this. That is just the reality of the platform.
She had a fully working fob, tested on every door and the start button, before I packed up. The baby slept through most of it in the stroller.
Some jobs are just about getting someone their car back. That was one of them.
