2011 Jeep Compass Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Got a call from a woman near Fairview Town Center in Goleta. She had a 2011 Jeep Compass and was down to one working key. The second one had been sitting in a junk drawer with a cracked shell for months, blade still attached but the housing split open and the board rattling around inside.

Real costs, no dealer surprises

My 2011 Jeep Compass key shell is cracked but the key still starts the car. Can you just replace the shell?▼

Sometimes. The OHT692427AA has a small circuit board (marked 56040649AC on the back housing) with the transponder chip and RF remote components soldered on. If that board is intact and undamaged, I can transplant it into a new aftermarket shell and cut a fresh blade. But if the board has a cracked solder joint or corrosion from being exposed, the remote buttons will act inconsistent or the immobilizer won't read the transponder. At that point you need a full replacement key, programmed from scratch. I check the board first before recommending either direction.
