A college kid staying in the Isla Vista area of Goleta called me sounding like he'd already given up. His 2016 Jeep Compass wouldn't start, and he'd already been through it with another locksmith who bailed halfway through.
Here's what happened. The first guy tried to program a new remote head key, something went sideways mid-procedure, and he just pulled his tool and left. Cleared the codes, verified the module returned to a clean baseline, then ran the correct Jeep SKIM key learning sequence from scratch. His OHT692427AA remote head key, 4-button, ID46 chip, learned on the first pass. I turned my screen so he could see the confirmation himself.
His Compass started clean. No warning lights, no "NO FOBS DETECTED," no drama. Cleaning up the other guy's mess was just part of the job. Saved him a good chunk over what the dealer quoted to sort it out.
