Down near Ventura Pier, a Compass owner called about her smart key acting up. Started with intermittent "Key Fob Not Detected" messages, then the remote start quit working completely.
She'd already tried a new CR2032 from the pharmacy. Still dead. The dealer wanted her to drop it off for diagnostics, order a new fob if needed, then schedule programming. Timeline: two weeks minimum.
I met her at the pier parking lot. First thing I noticed: tiny crack along the fob seam where the emergency blade slides out. Common weak point on these M3N-40821302 fobs. Inside, the battery contacts had oxidation buildup blocking proper connection.
