2006 Land Rover Range Rover Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from a guy near the Carpinteria Salt Marsh Nature Park in Carpinteria. His 2006 Range Rover, one key left and it had been acting up for weeks. The flip blade was loose in the housing, the lock button barely responded, and then one morning the immobilizer just said no. Cranked but would not fire.
He had already called the dealer. They told him they would need the vehicle towed in, the key ordered to VIN, and it would be three to five business days before he was driving again. He was not thrilled.
I got there in under an hour. Popped the old fob open on the hood so he could see what was going on. The PCF7935 transponder chip inside was fine, but the key blade pivot pin had worn its channel, and the battery contacts were corroded enough that the remote side was barely transmitting. The CR2032 tested low too.
Cut a fresh HU101 blade, programmed a new remote flip key through the OBD port using the KVM's add-key procedure, and registered the transponder to the immobilizer. Then tested every button: lock, unlock, trunk. Walked the perimeter checking range. Started it three times cold to make sure the immobilizer handshake was solid.
The whole thing took about 40 minutes. He stood there watching with his arms crossed the entire time, then just nodded and said "that's it?" That was it.
