Got a call from a guy near Leadbetter Beach in Santa Barbara. His 2010 Range Rover had one working smart key left, and it was acting up. Intermittent "key not recognized" on the dash, sometimes needing three or four presses to unlock, and the passive entry on the door handles had quit entirely.

I pulled up, popped the key shell on his tailgate, and the CR2032 looked fine voltage-wise but the positive contact leaf had a slight twist. Probably from the last battery swap. Straightened it, cleaned both pads, reseated the battery. Passive entry came back on all four doors immediately.
Then I cut and programmed a second KOBJTF10A fob as a spare. Wrote it to the KVM through the OBD port, confirmed Hitag2 handshake, tested start, tested all five buttons, tested passive lock on walk-away. Took about 25 minutes total including the cut.
He stood there holding both fobs like he was weighing them. Said he figured the whole thing would take days, not half an hour. It does take days, if you go the dealer route. That is kind of the point of what I do.
