2013 Lincoln MKX
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2013 Lincoln MKX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

She was at a shopping plaza in East Santa Paula when her purse disappeared. Someone grabbed it off the back of her chair at the patio. Car keys, wallet, phone, all gone in under a minute. She borrowed a friend's phone to call the police, then her husband, then me.

Her 2013 Lincoln MKX was sitting in the lot with no keys at all. Her husband had already called the dealer by the time I picked up. They told him three to five business days, tow it in, and they recommended a full key memory wipe because the stolen fob could still start the car. He described the combined estimate and I just said: I'll be there tonight, no tow needed.

All-keys-lost after a theft is exactly what the situation called for. Wiping the key memory means any stolen fob is electronically dead and can't start the vehicle even if someone has it. I connected my diagnostic equipment through the OBD port, cleared every registered key out of the system, and programmed two fresh fobs from scratch. Then I decoded the lock cylinder and cut the emergency blade to match. Both fobs verified, push-button start confirmed, door handle touch-unlock walking all four handles. Done before the officer called back to follow up.

She drove home that night. The stolen fob can still slide the emergency blade into the door lock, but the vehicle's security system won't let it run. That matters and I made sure she understood it before I left.

The dealer estimate was the afterthought. She just said she was glad it didn't take five days.
