Out in Heritage Valley, a guy called me on a Tuesday afternoon with a broken key story I have heard before but still hate every time. His 2009 Lincoln MKZ, his daily driver, and the key blade had snapped clean inside the door lock. Not the ignition. The door.
He had already called another locksmith who told him the cylinder needed to come out. Drill it, replace it, re-key everything. He was looking at a steep bill and a car that would never look the same again.
I brought my Lishi tool for that keyway and worked the broken fragment out without touching the wafer surfaces. No scratches, no damage. Once the fragment was clear, I decoded the lock right there, read each position, and cut two new blades from the decode on the spot.
From there it was programming both remote head keys through the OBD port, running the security timer like the system requires, and testing everything before I packed up. Both keys turned the ignition. Both remotes worked. The door lock looked exactly the way it did before he called me.
He asked what drilling would have looked like. I showed him a photo on my phone from a different job. He said he was glad he made the second call.
