2018 Lincoln MKZ
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2018 Lincoln MKZ Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy out in Moorpark Home Acres called me on a weekday morning. He'd lost his only smart fob somewhere the evening before and had no backup. The MKZ was sitting in his driveway going nowhere.

He'd already called the Lincoln dealer. They told him to tow the car in, said they'd need to verify ownership in person, and couldn't give him a firm appointment for several days. He wasn't happy about the tow part or the wait.

I drove out to him. He met me in the driveway with his registration and ID already in hand, which I always appreciate. I decoded the key blade from the door lock, got the new fob cut and registered through the OBD port using my programming equipment. The body control module on these has a timed security access sequence built into the process, so you wait it out. It's not long, but you don't rush it. Total time on site was right around 45 minutes.

He had one working smart key, all five buttons confirmed, door handles responding, engine starting. His car never left the driveway.

He mentioned the dealer quote before I left. I told him what I charge. He said he wished he'd called me first instead of spending 20 minutes on hold with the dealer.
