Still nothing after that, and you're looking at something deeper. Could be the fob itself, could be the antenna ring around the start button, could be a weak 12-volt accessory battery in the car. The Leaf runs its traction battery separately from the small 12-volt system that powers accessories and the key receiver. If that 12-volt battery is sagging, the Intelligent Key system can behave erratically even with a perfectly good fob. That's worth checking before assuming the fob is the problem.

The 2011 Leaf has two batteries. Does either one affect whether the key works?
