Got a call from a guy at The Collection at RiverPark in Oxnard. His 2003 Grand Prix GT turned over fine but would not fire. Cranked and cranked, the SECURITY light sitting solid on the dash. He had already tried the ten-minute relearn twice in the parking lot. Nothing.
He popped the hood expecting to see a fuel pump relay issue. It was not that.
I pulled up and ran the Passlock II data through the OBD port. The BCM was not seeing a valid resistive signal from the lock cylinder sensor. The key itself was worn down, and the resistive pellet contact was barely making a reading. The BCM saw an out-of-range value every time he turned the key, so it cut the injectors.
Cut a fresh B102-P blank on the HPC Blitz, matched to code. Then ran the Passlock relearn through the Tech2 so the BCM would store the correct resistance window for the new key. That part takes a few minutes of waiting because GM baked a timed security countdown into the procedure.
Tested it three times cold. Fired right up. Tested the remote on the separate fob, locks cycled at range. He stood there watching the dash like the SECURITY light was going to come back on out of spite.
Whole job, done on site, for a fraction of what the dealer quoted him over the phone.
