Over in Del Sol Park in Oxnard, a woman and her son had just finished dinner when her bag was snatched in the parking structure. Keys, wallet, phone, gone. Her son called the police from his own phone, then his dad, then me.
Her 2006 Porsche Boxster was sitting in the structure with zero keys. The husband had already called the Porsche dealer. I got there before the police finished the report. All-keys-lost on the 987.1 Boxster means I'm working with the instrument cluster, which houses the immobilizer on this generation. I pulled the cluster, read the EEPROM off the 93C86 chip using my IM608 Pro with the bench adapter, extracted the Hitag2 transponder data, and computed new ID48 key values from scratch. Cut a fresh HU66 blade on site, programmed the transponder, and put the cluster back.
The old stolen key is dead to the car now. Wiped from the system.
She turned the ignition once, the immobilizer light dropped, and the flat-six fired right up. Her son was grinning. She just looked relieved. They drove home that night. The whole thing took less time than the dealer would have spent writing up the estimate.
