Out in Pleasant Valley Fields in Oxnard, a photographer on assignment had his emergency blade snap clean off inside the driver door lock of his 2007 Boxster. The HU66 tip broke at the shoulder, buried deep in a cylinder that probably hadn't been turned in years. He'd been trying to get in after the remote battery died.
He already called another locksmith. That guy told him the lock needed to be drilled out. New cylinder, new key, long wait for parts. He called me for a second opinion.
I started with the door. Slid my HU66 Lishi pick into the cylinder, worked around the broken fragment, and extracted it without touching the wafers. No drill, no damage. Then I decoded the lock right there, reading each wafer position through the Lishi tool to get his original cut data.
His remote-head key shell was cracked from the break, so I swapped the Hitag2 transponder and the remote board into a fresh aftermarket shell, cut a new HU66 blade to match the decoded bitting, and tested the transponder communication at the ignition ring. Engine fired on the first turn.
He stood there watching me work on the hood of his car, checking his phone, probably expecting bad news. When I handed him a working key and he saw the door lock still looked factory, he just nodded slowly. No drilling, no cylinder swap, no dealer trip. The Boxster drove off the same way it came in.
