2014 Porsche Boxster Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A photographer working a shoot out near the Wagon Wheel area of Oxnard called me on a weekday afternoon. He had snapped his only key - the blade broke off inside the door lock on his 2014 Porsche Boxster. He said he hadn't used the door lock manually in a long time, and the cylinder was stiff. He forced it, and the tip gave way.
First locksmith he called told him the cylinder was done. Drill it out, replace it, new key to match. He didn't love that answer, so he called me.
I pulled up to his car and looked at the lock face before touching anything. The fragment was in there, but it hadn't gone deep. I used a broken key extractor, worked it slowly, and got the piece out in one clean pull. No drilling, cylinder completely intact.
From there I decoded the lock - read the cuts right out of the cylinder - and cut a replacement blade on site that matched what was there. Tested it in the door, tested it in the ignition. Turned smooth both ways.
He watched the whole thing and said the other locksmith hadn't even asked to look at it before recommending the cylinder swap. That part stuck with me. Destructive entry on a Porsche should always be the last move, not the first one.
What he paid me was a fraction of what the cylinder replacement would have run. He drove off the same day, key in hand, lock untouched.
