A photographer working a shoot near Lemon Grove Plaza in Oxnard called me about his 2014 Porsche Boxster. His smart fob battery had died, so he tried the emergency blade in the driver door lock. The HU66 blade tip snapped clean off inside the cylinder. Thing probably hadn't been turned in years, and the wafers fought back.
He'd already called another locksmith. That guy told him the lock needed to be drilled out, new cylinder, new key, the whole destructive route. He called me for a second opinion.
I got there and checked the fob first. Electronics were fine, just a dead battery and a broken blade. I used my HU66 Lishi tool to extract the broken fragment from the door lock without touching the cylinder itself. Then I decoded the lock wafers right there on site, read the existing transponder data from his working fob with my VVDI2, and cut a fresh emergency blade to match.
Rebuilt his original remote-head key with the new blade, seated a fresh battery, and tested everything. Doors, trunk release, start. All working.
No drilling. No new cylinder. No tow to the dealer. His Boxster looked exactly the same as when I pulled up, just with a key that worked again. The whole thing took about an hour. He was back shooting before he lost the light.
