2009 Porsche Boxster
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2009 Porsche Boxster Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

South Bank in Oxnard sits right along the water, and on a clear weekday morning it's quiet enough that you can hear the harbor. A guy called me from there after getting back from an early run along the channel path.

He'd locked his 2009 Porsche Boxster, tucked his key into a small zipper pocket on his shorts, and somewhere between the turnaround point and the parking lot, it was gone. Checked the path twice. Nothing.

He'd already called the dealer. They told him to have it towed in, said they'd need to verify ownership and order a key cut to VIN, possibly from the factory. The timeline they gave him was vague. The cost they quoted was not vague, and it was not small.

I told him I could be there within the hour.

When I pulled up, he was sitting on the low wall near the lot, watching his car like it might do something on its own. The 2009 Boxster uses a mechanical key - no remote, no fob, no chip programming required. My job was to decode the lock cylinder and cut a replacement key on site.

I decoded the door lock, identified the key cut, and produced a working key blank cut to match right there in the lot. He turned it in the door, turned it in the ignition, and that was it. Car started. He drove home.

He mentioned the dealer quote on the way out. I told him what I charged. He laughed a little, the way people do when something was way simpler than they were led to believe.
