Got a call from a guy near Old Mission Santa Barbara. Surf instructor, just finished a lesson, reached for his pocket, and nothing. His 1999 Volkswagen Golf key probably tumbled out somewhere in the break. Gone for good.

I drove out and used my Lishi HU66 to decode the door lock. Each wafer position gives me the factory bitting, so I can cut a new blade right there without pulling anything apart. The lock stays original, the cylinder stays in place, the car looks exactly the same when I'm done.
After the blade was cut, I built the transponder side. His Golf runs Immo3 with a Megamos ID48 chip in the cluster module 1J0920xx series. I extracted the immobilizer data through the diagnostic port and programmed the new ID48 chip to match. Then paired the remote portion of the 1J0959753F fob so all four buttons worked: lock, unlock, trunk, and panic.
No drilling. No cylinder swap. No tow. No week-long wait. He drove out of that lot the same afternoon.
