Tested all four buttons: lock, unlock, trunk, panic. Cycled the ignition twice to make sure the immobilizer handshake was clean. No fault codes on the cluster, no yellow car-and-key warning light.
She got a solid key back for a fraction of what the dealer quoted to replace parts that were never broken.
