Got a call from a guy in Ventura, out near the Saticoy area, who had just finished giving a surf lesson. His 2006 Volkswagen Golf was sitting in the lot and his key was gone. Best guess: the ocean took it.
He had already called another locksmith who told him the ignition would need to be drilled. Then quoted him a big number on top of that for a new cylinder and key. He called me for a second opinion.
I drove out and started with his door lock. Used my HU162T Lishi to decode the wafer positions and pull the factory cut depths without removing or damaging anything. Cut a fresh blade on site. Then I built the Megamos 48 CAN transponder and ran the all-keys-lost procedure through OBD on the Immo3 module, which lives inside the instrument cluster on these Mk5 Golfs.
The flip key shell matched his original, part number 1K0959753P, FCC ID NBG92596263. Four buttons. Programmed the remote, tested lock, unlock, trunk, and panic. Transponder handshake confirmed on the dash, no flashing immobilizer light.
He stood there watching the whole time, still in a wetsuit, dripping on his own parking spot. When the engine fired he just nodded like he had been holding his breath for an hour.
No drilling. No new cylinder. Car looked the same as when I got there, just with a working key in it.
