A home health nurse in Ventura, over in the College Area, called me from her apartment complex carport one morning before her first patient visit. Her 2009 Golf had one key, and it stopped being recognized overnight. The dash was throwing the yellow immobilizer light and the engine would crank but refuse to fire. Read the PIN, adapted a new 1K0959753P remote flip key with a fresh Megamos 48 chip, cut the HU66 blade on my mobile unit, and programmed the transponder plus all four remote buttons.
The part that took longest was waiting on the adaptation handshake between the key and the immobilizer module. She stood there watching the dash, arms crossed, like she was waiting for the car to argue back.
It didn't. Started clean. She made her first appointment on time.
A dealer would have meant a tow plus days waiting for a key order. She drove to work instead.
