2007 Honda Odyssey Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call early on a weekday morning from a guy running a food truck parked near Coronado Village. He'd gone to move his 2007 Odyssey and the key blade snapped clean at the neck, right where the plastic housing meets the metal.
Half the blade was stuck in the ignition cylinder. He wasn't sure if the car was off or in accessory, and he didn't want to force anything.
I told him to leave it alone. Don't try to grip the stub with pliers, don't wiggle it. That's how you push a broken piece deeper or damage the wafers.
When I got there I used a Lishi tool to work the broken piece out without touching the ignition internals. Once it was out clean, I decoded the lock from the cylinder itself and cut a fresh key blade to match. The remote housing on his original unit was actually fine, the electronics and battery were intact, so I transferred what I could and had him test the remote buttons while I watched. Lock, unlock, and the sliding door button all responded. Then we tested the ignition. Started on the first turn.
The whole job took about 45 minutes on site, most of that was the extraction going carefully. He was back in his van and moving before the morning rush hit. He mentioned the dealer had been his first call and they'd quoted him a tow, a parts order, and a few days minimum.
That gap, between "few days at the dealer" and "back on the road before breakfast," is exactly why I do this mobile.
