The guy I was there for had a 2019 Odyssey he'd been driving for a couple years. I cleaned the contacts, reseated everything, and verified the CR2032 was actually putting out the right voltage under load, not just sitting there looking okay. Then I walked every function: both sliding door buttons, the liftgate, lock, unlock, panic, remote start. Range test from across the parking lot. Everything came back the way it should.
He didn't need a full replacement. He needed someone to actually look at the fob instead of just selling him something new. I did have a replacement in the bag if the internals were too far gone, but they weren't. Thirty minutes, done on site, and he kept the original fob. The dealer quote he'd already gotten was for a full replacement plus programming. He saved a good chunk just by calling a tech instead of making an appointment.
