2009 Audi A4 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy near Alice Keck Park Memorial Garden in Santa Barbara found me through my YouTube channel. He had been watching my Audi smart key videos for a while, so when his 2009 A4 started acting up, he already had my number saved.
His complaint was classic B8 comfort access trouble. The door handles would not respond to touch unlock about half the time, and the remote range had shrunk to almost nothing. He had to hold the fob against the steering column to get a start. He thought the BCM2 was going bad.
I tested his IYZFBSB802 fob on the hood. CR2032 was original, voltage was sitting around 2.6V, which is low enough to explain everything. Swapped in a fresh cell and the remote range came back immediately. But the comfort access still dropped out on the driver door.
That part was not the fob. The B8 A4 has a known issue with the comfort access antenna in the door handle wiring. His driver side handle sensor was intermittent. I verified it by testing the passenger side, which responded every time.
I programmed him a spare IYZFBSB802 with my VVDI Key Tool, wrote the Megamos 48 CAN transponder data, cut the HU66 insert blade, and registered everything through the OBD port. Both fobs tested on all four buttons, start tested three times, range checked from across the parking area.
He still needs a door handle antenna fix for that driver side, but at least now he has a working spare and knows the BCM2 is fine. A dealer would have had him tow it in and start quoting module replacements before checking a battery.
