2013 Audi A4
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2013 Audi A4 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

It was a July afternoon in Oxnard, near The Collection, and a woman had a locked 2013 A4 full of wedding flowers. Peonies, garden roses, arrangements she'd just finished and loaded. Windows up, AC off, and the car wasn't going anywhere.

She'd already called the Audi dealer. Tomorrow afternoon was the earliest they could get her in. She called me next.

I told her 20 minutes and I meant it.

First thing when I got there was getting the door open and the engine running so the AC could start pulling the heat out of the cabin. The flowers had maybe another 30 minutes before the damage was permanent. That part comes before everything else.

Then I plugged into the OBD port and pulled up the immobilizer data. Her fob was the factory 4-button smart key with comfort access. When I opened the housing, the problem was immediately visible: the CR2032 had leaked inside, and the corrosion had eaten through one of the internal contacts. The fob was not coming back from that.

I built her a new fob, programmed it through the port, confirmed all four buttons, and walked the perimeter checking comfort access detection at both front handles. Everything live, everything working.

Phone call to engine running was 43 minutes. Total job was under an hour and a half. The dealer wanted her to wait until the next day and pay considerably more. The flowers made it to the venue. The order survived. That's the job.
