2021 Buick Enclave
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: Can you wipe lost or stolen fobs so they can't start the car anymore?

Yes. Any all-keys-lost reset or security relearn clears every previously registered key from the vehicle's memory. After that, only the new keys we register will start the car or operate the locks. The old fobs are dead to the system.

Q: Is there an emergency blade hidden inside the 2021 Enclave smart fob?

There is. Press the small release tab on the side of the fob and a metal key blade slides out. It fits the driver door lock cylinder so you can get into the car manually when the fob battery is too low to trigger the handles. If that blade is missing or broken, I can cut a replacement to match your lock. The fob itself doesn't need to be replaced just because the blade is gone.

Q: My 2021 Enclave shows a key-not-detected warning but the fob battery is new. What's going on?

New battery doesn't always mean good contact. First thing to check is whether the CR2032 is seated flat and the contact clips are actually gripping it, not just resting on it. If the battery checks out, the next common culprit is interference. Thick phone cases with magnets, metal key rings, or other fobs packed tight together can all disrupt the signal at close range. Try walking up to the vehicle with just that fob and nothing else in your hand.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online for my 2021 Enclave. Can I program it myself?

No. The 2021 Enclave smart key requires professional diagnostic equipment to register. There is no button sequence, no door-open trick, no ignition cycle that does it on these. The fob you bought online is just hardware until someone with the right tools pairs it to your specific vehicle. Bring it to me and I can program it on site. You'll save money on the part, and I handle the rest.

2021 Buick Enclave Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

He found me on a Saturday morning, parked in the lot off Rincon Point. Soccer coach, kit bag in the back of his 2021 Enclave, and a story I've heard before: another locksmith had already been out, charged him full price, and left.

The car would crank. Then it would die. Two seconds, every time.

The previous tech told him the body control module was shot. That was wrong. What actually happened is GM's vehicle security system has a specific security access procedure with a timed window. If you don't complete it correctly, the system rejects the new key registration and logs a fault. The car starts, the theft deterrent kicks in, fuel cuts off. It's not a dead module. It's a locksmith who didn't finish the job.

I connected through the OBD port, cleared the faulted key entry, waited out the security countdown properly, and ran a clean relearn. His fob, all five buttons, came back with a solid start and no cutoff. I turned the screen so he could see the confirmation himself.

He'd already paid someone once for work that didn't get done. That part bothered me more than anything else about the call. I made sure he left with keys that actually worked.

Buick Enclave Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

What's the best move for all-keys-lost on a 2021 Enclave?▼

Call a mobile locksmith before you call the dealer and definitely before you arrange a tow. All-keys-lost on the 2021 Enclave means resetting the vehicle security system, re-registering new keys, and cutting the emergency blade inside the fob. The whole job runs 40 to 60 minutes on site. A big chunk of that is the mandatory security countdown GM builds into the process. We quote you a number on the phone and that's what you pay.
