Last week in Carpinteria, right by the Salt Marsh Nature Park, a guy called about his 2022 Enclave. Dead fob at the worst time.
He was loading camping gear when the HYQ4ES stopped responding. No lock, no unlock, nothing. The emergency key got him in, but the push-button start just flashed "No Remote Detected." His nearest dealer wanted three days minimum, plus the tow from Carpinteria.
I pulled up to his driveway with everything ready. First thing: VXDIAG scanner to the OBD port, external power hooked to the battery terminals. The BCM on these can corrupt if voltage dips during key programming, so that's non-negotiable. Backed up the module data, then started building his new HYQ4ES from a virgin blank.
The actual programming took eight minutes through GM's SPS2. Cut the HU100 emergency blade on my Condor machine right there on the tailgate. Then the test: all five buttons, walk-away lock, approach unlock, remote start holding for four seconds.
His old fob was toast, something fried on the board. New one worked perfect. He asked what the dealer quoted him versus what I charged. I just said he saved enough to cover that camping trip twice over.
