1998 Cadillac Deville Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy out in Hollywood Beach picked up a 1998 DeVille at an estate sale. Clean car, low drama, one key. The family handed it over with a single blade that had seen better days, soft on the edges, a little sticky in the ignition. He figured a spare was a phone call away.
He called the Cadillac dealer first. They quoted him more than he expected for what is, mechanically, a straightforward metal key job. He found me online and called to ask if that sounded right.
I told him the key itself is not complicated. No programming, no pairing, nothing to sync to a module. It is a metal key cut to the car. I could meet him at his place in Hollywood Beach and handle it there.
When I arrived, I decoded the cut from the door lock rather than copying the worn key directly. Copying a worn key just makes a worn copy. Decoding from the lock gets you back to what the factory intended. I cut the new blade on my machine, checked it in both the door and the ignition, and handed him two keys.
He mentioned the dealer estimate again. I told him that estimate was for a car that needs programming equipment. This one does not. He got two working keys for a fraction of that, standing in his own driveway, in about twenty minutes.
