1995 Cadillac Seville
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How do I know you are not a scam locksmith?

The pattern is pretty consistent with scam operations: a low number on the phone, then a much higher number once they're standing next to your car. With a 1995 Seville, some will invent complexity that doesn't exist on this vehicle to justify a bigger bill. A real locksmith gives you a specific estimate for your actual vehicle before showing up, has a verifiable business name, and has reviews you can read.

Q: Will the replacement key work exactly like the original?

Yes. A correctly cut replacement key for the 1995 Seville operates the ignition, the door locks, and the trunk lock the same way the original did. There is nothing to program or register. The key works because the cut matches the lock, full stop. We test the ignition, both door locks, and the trunk before we call the job done. If anything feels off in the cylinder after the key is cut, we catch it on site.

Q: My 1995 Seville ignition feels like it's fighting the key. Is it the key or the cylinder?

Almost always the cylinder on a car this age. The tumblers in the ignition wear down over years of use, and a worn cylinder can make even a correctly cut key feel stiff or hard to turn. Sometimes it gets bad enough that the key starts to bind mid-rotation, which is its own kind of problem. If the key was cut right and still gives you trouble, I'll check the cylinder itself. On a 30-year-old Seville, that's not unusual.

Q: I have the original key but it's worn down. Can you make a copy, or do you need to decode the lock?

A worn key is a problem to copy from directly. If the original has been used for 30 years, the cuts are likely rounded off enough that duplicating it will just produce a worn copy of a worn key. That might work, or it might work for a while and then start slipping. The better move is to decode the lock cylinder and cut a fresh key from the actual depths of the lock, not from the worn original.

1995 Cadillac Seville Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in Mussel Shoals, I got a call about a 1995 Cadillac Seville with no working key. The owner had picked it up as a project car and it came with nothing, just the car itself. No key, no paperwork, no code tag.

The car was sitting in a driveway right off PCH. Classic Seville shape, the kind that looks like it belongs parked in front of something important. The owner had already called around and got a range of answers, some of them involving programming fees for systems this car doesn't have. That part frustrated him more than the missing key.

I decoded the door lock cylinder on site. Once I had the cut, I made a replacement key blade right there on the car. He watched the whole thing from about four feet away, which I don't mind. I actually prefer it when owners watch, because then there's no mystery about what the job is.

Key went in, turned clean, car started. That was it. No module work, no scan tool, no bench equipment. Just a correct cut from a decoded lock.

He mentioned the dealer had told him they'd need to "look into it" and get back to him about cost. I was done before that conversation would have finished.

Cadillac Seville Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Are you licensed and insured to work on Cadillac vehicles?▼

Yes. EZ Car Keyz holds a California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services license (LCO#6792) and carries full business insurance. For a 1995 Seville specifically, the job is a mechanical key cut, so it does not require the security data subscriptions that late-model GM vehicles need. What matters here is that the person doing the work knows how to decode a lock cylinder and cut a key blade accurately. That's a core locksmith skill, and it's what we do.
