2001 Chrysler Sebring Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Over near Promenade Park in Ventura, a guy flagged me down on a call I almost rescheduled. His 2001 Sebring sedan, parked on the street, one key, snapped right at the bow where the plastic meets the blade. He'd been wiggling it in the ignition for months and finally it just gave up.
He held up the two pieces like evidence. Blade stuck in the ignition, transponder head in his hand.
First thing I did was extract the broken blade from the lock cylinder. Came out clean, no wafers damaged. Then I checked the transponder head. The PCF7935 chip inside was still alive. I read it with my programmer, confirmed the data, and cloned it into a new Y160-PT blank. Cut the blade to match his door lock decode since the original was snapped.
Turned the key, SKIM light did its normal three-second flash and went out. Engine fired. I cut him a second key while I was there and programmed it through the SKIM on-board procedure using the first working key. Two turns, wait five seconds, two turns with the second key. Both registered.
He stood there turning both keys over in his hands like he was comparing them. Then he just said, "I should have done this a year ago."
Whole thing took about 35 minutes. He went from a snapped key stuck in the column to two working transponder keys, right there on the street.
