2008 Chrysler Sebring Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy in the RiverPark neighborhood in Oxnard called me about his 2008 Sebring. He had a FOBIK made by another locksmith about a week earlier, and it was starting to act possessed. Mornings it would fire right up. By afternoon the engine would crank, catch for about two seconds, then the SKIM would kill it. He thought his fuel pump was going.
It wasn't the fuel pump.
I pulled his FOBIK apart on his kitchen counter while his newborn slept in a carrier on the floor. The transponder inside was a generic ID46 clone, close enough to handshake with the SKIM during the initial PIN-based registration but not stable through the deeper rolling crypto verification Chrysler runs after drive cycles. The PCF7941 has to respond correctly every time. A knockoff will drift.
I programmed a new remote head key with the correct OHT692427AA board carrying a real Philips PCF7941, cut to Y160-PT, and ran the OBD key learning through my programmer using the SKIM PIN. While I had it open, I noticed his CR2032 was already reading low, which explained why the lock and unlock buttons had been flaky at range. Swapped that too.
He watched the whole thing from the doorway, bouncing the carrier gently, not really watching. Just tired. The key has been solid for months now. The difference between a key that works Monday and a key that works every day is the chip generation inside it.
