A drywall installer flagged me down at the Fremont Square Shopping Center in Oxnard. He had a 1998 Dodge Intrepid parked near the contractor supply lot and wanted a spare key he could actually trust as a daily driver, not something he would toss in a junk drawer and forget about.

The aftermarket blank I carry uses the same Y159 blade profile, same PCF7935 transponder chip, same physical fitout. The SKIM module behind his ignition cylinder does not care about a logo. It reads the chip's fixed code and either authorizes fuel or it does not.
I decoded his lock with my Y159 Lishi tool, verified the bitting, and cut the blade on my machine right there in the parking lot. Then I connected through the OBD port to pull the 4-digit PIN from the Powertrain Control Module and registered the new transponder to his SKIM. Turned the key, Security light flickered and went out, engine caught on the first crank.
He held both keys side by side and just kind of shrugged. They felt the same. They worked the same. One just cost him a good chunk less than the dealer route.
