A dentist working near Seabridge Marketplace in Oxnard called me about his 1999 Dodge Intrepid. He needed a spare transponder key. Before I even gave him a quote, he told me he had already looked up my BSIS license, LCO 6792, on the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services site. He said he does that with every service provider. I told him I appreciated the diligence.
When I got there he was standing next to the car with his one working key in hand. Clean second-gen Intrepid, 2.7L. I pulled the SKIM module data through the OBD-II port using my programmer, grabbed the factory PIN, and backed up the WIN (Wireless Ignition Node) data before touching anything. Standard safety step on these older Chrysler platforms.
Cut the Y160-PT blank on my mobile machine, matched it to the original, then wrote the PCF7936 transponder to the SKIM. Two keys registered, both tested. Cranked right up, no SKIM light on the dash, no hiccups.
The whole thing took about 20 minutes. He watched the entire process from the driver's side window. When I handed him both keys he just nodded and said he was glad he checked me out first.
Good. My BSIS number is public. My NASTF certification gives me authorized access to Chrysler PIN codes. Look it all up. I prefer informed customers.
