I got a call from a guy out near Hollister Village in Goleta, early on a weekday. He'd been bass fishing and lost his only key somewhere between the dock and the parking lot. Checked the tackle box, checked the boat, checked every pocket. I cut him a spare on the spot. He'd been running on one key for three years and figured that was fine until the moment it wasn't.
The dealer was going to be a tow plus a weekday appointment plus whatever they charged for the programming. He saved a good chunk going with me, and he didn't have to wait through a weekend or arrange a flatbed. From the time I picked the door to the time the engine was running was under an hour.
He grabbed his cooler, thanked me, and drove straight back to the dock. I think he was more worried about the fish than the key at that point.
