A photographer in Hobson Park called me after a job near the Oxnard coast. He'd been shooting at a canyon overlook lot, hiked back a half mile to get cell signal, and called me from the side of the road.
His 2016 Fit with push-button start had zero working keys. He'd already been told twice, once by a friend and once by a shop that didn't want to deal with it, that all-keys-lost on a smart key Honda was a dealer-only situation.

When all keys are gone on a push-button Fit, the immobilizer has no reference point. There's no physical key to turn, no ignition cylinder to insert anything into. The car just sits there. You need the right equipment and you need to know the Honda-specific procedure, because the reset involves the immobilizer talking to other modules before it will accept a new key at all.
I drove out to the lot. He watched the whole thing from the hood of his car, still holding his camera bag. When the Fit started, he stood there for a second like he was waiting for it to change its mind.
He mentioned the dealer had been floated as an option, plus a tow since the car obviously couldn't move on its own. That combination would have cost him a lot more and taken at least a day. Getting it handled on-site, right there in the lot, was the part that surprised him most.
