A delivery driver called me from a fast food lot in Heritage Square, Oxnard, around 10 at night. His only key to his 2017 Fit was gone. No spare, no idea where it went. He was already looking up tow trucks just to get the car somewhere safe overnight.
He sounded like he was about halfway to giving up. I walked him through it on the phone. Told him to look at the base of the windshield on the driver's side for his VIN. He found it. Then I had him check his insurance app for registration info, and that came through too.
With the VIN I already knew what I was bringing: KR5V1X proximity fob, 3-button, CR2032 battery, Hitag 3 47-chip system on the Honda G immobilizer platform. I prepped the blank and programmed the transponder with my VVDI Key Tool before I even pulled into the lot. All-keys-lost on this generation Fit means going through the OBD port to do a full immobilizer reset on the 38 board, then registering the new fob fresh.
I built and cut the emergency insert key under the parking lot lights, tested the proximity unlock on both front doors, ran the lock, unlock, and trunk buttons, and confirmed push-button start. He sat in the driver's seat, pressed the brake, and the engine turned over clean.
He drove home that night. The dealer was closed anyway, and they would have needed a tow on top of the wait.
