2004 Infiniti Fx35
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How fast can you get to me in Port Hueneme?

Usually within 30 minutes of your call if you're in the J Street Corridor area. Everything I need for an FX35 comes with me: the key blanks, the programming equipment, the battery stock. There's no dispatch to a shop, no waiting for a bay to open. You call, I come to the car.

Q: Can I get a replacement key made today, same day?

Yes. Dealers frequently have to order the fob by VIN and owners on Infiniti forums report waits of several days to over a week just to get the part, before the appointment even happens. I stock blanks for this generation of Intelligent Key on the truck. Same-day service is the standard, not a special case.

Q: I bought a used fob online for my 2004 FX35. Can it just be programmed, or is there more to it?

It can be programmed, but there's a catch worth knowing. When a fob has been previously registered to another vehicle, the programming equipment needs to overwrite that prior pairing before it can be registered to yours. On this generation of Intelligent Key, that's handled through the OBD port with the right Nissan/Infiniti-capable tool. A generic key programmer often won't get the job done here.

Q: My FX35 shows a key warning on the dash even though I'm holding the fob. What's going on?

A few things can cause that. Low fob battery is the most common. But if a fresh CR2025 doesn't clear it, the next thing to check is whether something is interfering with the signal, like a phone or a key fob for another car sitting right next to it.

2004 Infiniti Fx35 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy called me from the long-term lot over near the J Street Corridor side of Port Hueneme. He'd been gone for a week and a half, came back to his 2004 FX35, and the fob was completely dead. No response. Car locked. He'd never used the emergency blade in the fob and didn't realize it was even there.

He'd already called the dealer. Earliest available was several days out. He had somewhere to be that afternoon.

I got there while he was still standing next to the car with his luggage. First thing I did was show him the blade release on the fob, because that was the immediate problem. Got the door open. Popped the fob open right on the hood, swapped in a fresh CR2025, tested the wireless signal.

Then I connected through the OBD port to check the key's registration status and confirm there was no communication fault logged. The key was still paired. The dead battery had just killed the signal entirely, and once the new cell was seated correctly, it woke right back up. Ran through all three buttons, tested the door handles, confirmed the ignition recognized the fob normally.

He made his afternoon. The dealer route would have meant days of waiting and spending a lot more. This was a battery swap with a proper diagnostic confirmation, done on site, in under an hour.

Infiniti Fx35 Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

How long does a 2004 Infiniti FX35 key replacement take?▼

For an add-a-key on the FX35, figure 30 to 45 minutes on site. That covers cutting the emergency blade, registering the new fob through the OBD port, and walking through a full function test on all buttons and the door handles. All-keys-lost takes longer. On this generation of Infiniti Intelligent Key, losing all paired fobs means the system needs a PIN-level security access step before new keys can be registered.
