Got a call from a guy stuck in an airport long-term lot. He'd just landed from a cross-country flight, walked to his 2004 FX35, and nothing happened. No chirp, no unlock, doors dead. He stood there clicking the fob like everyone does. Habit.
He'd never once used the emergency key blade hidden inside the NHVWBU612 fob. Didn't even know it was there. He called the Infiniti dealer first. Earliest opening was Friday. This was Tuesday. He had a territory meeting in three hours.

Popped the door open, pulled up his BCM through the OBD port on my IM608. His Intelligent Key was still registered to the vehicle, no pairing issue. The CR2025 was just flat dead, which meant the passive NATS5 polling couldn't complete and the IMMU (Immobilizer Control Unit, board 28590-CG000 on these) was throwing a communication fault. Swapped the battery, cleared the fault code, and ran the fob through every function: lock, unlock, trunk, push-button start, and the backup antenna read by holding it against the start button.
He made his meeting. The whole thing took maybe 25 minutes on site. The dealer would have meant a tow, a three-day wait, and way more money.
