East End, Ojai. Midweek, late morning. A woman called me from her driveway off one of the quieter residential streets out that way. She had her 2007 FX35 sitting right there, but the fob had gone dead overnight and she had no backup. The fob still wasn't reliable after that, so we moved forward with a replacement. I programmed the new fob through the OBD port, cut the emergency blade to her vehicle, and walked every function: door handles, lock, unlock, and the remaining button. Everything came back clean on the first test.
She mentioned she'd already called the dealer before reaching me. They told her to bring it in, quoted her the full replacement price, and couldn't see her until the following week. She saved a solid chunk going the mobile route, and it was done before noon.
