2010 Infiniti G37
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: Can you delete a lost or stolen key from my G37 so it can't start the car anymore?

Yes. The registration process for the 2010 G37 intelligent key system works by wiping all previously enrolled fobs and re-registering only the ones physically present during the session. Any fob not in the car during that procedure loses its authorization to start the vehicle. If a key was stolen and you're worried about someone using it, this is exactly the move.

Q: Does my G37 intelligent key have a hidden emergency blade inside it?

Yes. There's a small release on the fob body -- press it and slide the mechanical blade out. That blade cuts to the driver door lock cylinder, which on the G37 is usually tucked behind a small cover on the door handle surround. This matters most when the fob battery dies or the intelligent key system isn't responding and you need to physically get into the car.

Q: My G37 starts fine but the door handle touch unlock stopped working on one side. Is the fob dying?

Probably not the fob. If the car starts normally and the other handle still responds, the intelligent key itself is almost certainly fine. Touch unlock on the G37 relies on a capacitive sensor built into the door handle on each door -- they can fail independently, and dirt or moisture around the handle area is a common trigger. Wipe down the handle area and retest.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online for my 2010 G37. Can I program it myself?

No. The G37 intelligent key system requires diagnostic equipment to register a new fob. There is no button sequence or ignition-turn trick that works on this vehicle -- those self-programming methods apply to older bladed transponder systems, not this platform. The fob you bought online is fine to use, but it still needs to be paired to your car's immobilizer by someone with the right tools.

2010 Infiniti G37 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A grad student over in Rancho Conejo called me after he had already been through it once. A different locksmith had attempted to program a new intelligent key to his 2010 G37, got partway through, and left. The car wouldn't recognize any key at all. The guy charged for the attempt and told him to go to the dealer.

He found me through my reviews and called on a Tuesday morning. He was upfront about being nervous he was about to burn more money on another guy who couldn't finish the job.

I pulled up to the apartment complex and plugged into the OBD port before I touched anything else. The immobilizer was sitting in a confused state -- fault codes from the incomplete registration attempt, module not at a clean baseline. That's what happens when someone runs a procedure that doesn't match the year and system. The module gets partway through writing key data and then stalls. After that, the car treats everything like a stranger.

I cleared the faults, confirmed the module came back to baseline, and ran a proper intelligent key registration sequence from scratch. Four-button fob, the factory unit he already had. Walked the whole car after -- touch unlock on both handles, start button, every fob button. Everything came back clean.

He was quiet for a second when it started, like he was waiting for something to go wrong.

The dealer had quoted him a number to "diagnose and repair" the immobilizer that would have hurt. He paid a fraction of that. I didn't charge extra for the cleanup. Getting the module back to baseline is part of the job, not an add-on.

Infiniti G37 Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

What is the cheapest way to handle all-keys-lost on my 2010 G37?▼

Call a mobile locksmith before you call a tow truck. Infiniti dealers charge a lot for an all-keys-lost situation, and that's before any towing fees. A mobile locksmith comes to wherever the car is sitting, handles the immobilizer reset and key registration on site, and typically comes in at a fraction of dealer pricing. One thing worth knowing: if you are doing all-keys-lost, get two fobs registered in the same session.
