Over near Sunset Hills Country Club in Thousand Oaks, a retired engineer flagged me down at the luxury car wash on Westlake. He already knew the process. He'd watched my Nissan Intelligent Key video on YouTube and figured the Infiniti side would be almost identical. He was right. The 2013 G37 runs the same NATS6 immobilizer and 46 chip platform as its Nissan cousins, all handled through the BCM, part number 284B2-JK60D on these coupes.
His KR55WK48903 fob had been throwing intermittent "KEY IS NOT DETECTED" messages on the dash. Sometimes it started fine, sometimes he had to hold the fob right against the start button. Classic weak signal behavior, but his CR2032 was fresh. The issue was a hairline crack on the fob's internal antenna loop. The coil was separating from the board at one solder point.
I built a new fob using my VVDI Key Tool, programmed it through OBD with a pin read off the BCM, then cut the emergency insert blade to match his door cylinder. Tested every button, did three clean start cycles, and confirmed passive entry range from across the wash bay.
He watched the whole thing like he was grading a lab report. When the third start cycled clean, he just nodded. Engineer approval.
The whole job took about 25 minutes. A fraction of what Infiniti of Thousand Oaks would have charged, and he never left the parking lot.
