The call came from a charity thrift store off Carpinteria Avenue. An estate sale coordinator was supposed to have a donor pickup rolling that morning -- furniture from an elderly donor's home, movers already in transit, a tight window. Her 2001 Jaguar XJ was sitting in the lot not going anywhere.
