A private jet broker called me at 6:45 in the morning from a small airstrip lot in the Downtown Carpinteria area. Client landing in two hours, and his 2004 Jaguar XJ would not start. The remote flip key was dead, and the emergency HU92 blade would not turn the door lock. Years of never using it had seized that cylinder solid.
I got there in about 25 minutes. Used my HU92 Lishi to pick the door lock and get inside. Connected through the OBD port under the dash and started talking to the KVM.
Turned out the CR2032 had died so completely that the Key Vehicle Module dropped the fob's registration. The NHVWB1U241 was physically fine, just forgotten by the car. Fresh battery, re-registered the key through OBD, and ran every function: lock, unlock, trunk, panic. Engine started clean on the first turn.
He pulled out of the lot a little after 7:30 and was at the hangar before his client touched down.
The dealer option would have meant a flatbed tow, a wait for the service department to open, and a missed meeting that probably mattered more to him than the car itself. Instead, the whole thing was handled on-site for a fraction of what that route would have cost.
