2010 Jaguar XJ Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A Euro specialist shop near the Karpeles Manuscript Library area in Santa Barbara called me about a 2010 XJ that was completely dead to all keys. Another locksmith had tried an all-keys-lost job, attempted a bench read on the KVM, and something went wrong mid-process. Power interruption during the EEPROM dump. The module locked up and the car would not recognize any fob.
That is about the worst outcome you can get on these. The X351 KVM stores encrypted key data in its EEPROM, and if a write or read gets interrupted, you end up with corrupted key slots. The car just sits there. No crank, no dash response, nothing.
I brought my ACDP programmer for the bench recovery. Pulled the KVM, read the EEPROM, recovered the original dump data, generated a fresh key file, and wrote it to a new 5-button proximity fob, the KR55WK49244. Reinstalled the module, ran the initialization, and the car saw the key on the first try.
I walked the shop guys through what went sideways so they could explain it to their customer. The whole job ran about two hours, which is longer than a normal smart key call but a lot shorter than towing to the dealer and waiting weeks for a KVM replacement. The XJ left the shop running that afternoon.
