A guy in Victoria Estates reached out after buying a used 2016 Lexus RC from a private seller over in Oxnard. Clean coupe, decent price, one key. The seller told him to sort out a spare on his own, which he figured was fine until he called the dealer.

Tested every button on both fobs, walked both door handles for touch unlock, confirmed the start button read each fob cleanly.
The whole thing was done in the driveway. He paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted, kept his original fob registered, and now has a backup in case something happens down the road. That part matters on a Lexus smart key system: if he ever loses one fob later, it's still an add-a-key job. Lose both and it becomes a much longer, more involved procedure. Having a spare is real insurance on these cars.
