A lawyer near the Oxnard Transit Center area needed a spare smart key for her 2019 Lexus RC. She had already called the dealer and got the rundown: fob from parts, programming labor, shop fee, and she would need to block out half a workday to sit in their waiting room. I plugged my IM608 into the OBD-II port below the dash. The 2019 RC uses Toyota's 8A crypto platform, so registration goes through the immobilizer ECU on the CAN bus. The tool talks to the smart key ECU, which on these is board 271451-7190, and writes the new HYQ14FBA into an open slot. Took about 25 minutes from plug-in to final test.
Cut the emergency insert blade on site, then walked the full function check: push-button start, all four fob buttons, both front door handle touch-to-lock and touch-to-unlock, and trunk release. Everything responded clean.
She slid the new fob into her bag and went back to work. No tow, no dealer shuttle, no rearranged client meetings. The whole thing cost her a fraction of what the dealer wanted.
