Pleasant Valley resident called me at 7 PM on a Tuesday. Her 2022 RC wouldn't recognize either of her smart keys. Both fobs lit up when pressed, but the car kept showing "Key Not Detected" on the dash.
She'd already been to AutoZone for fresh CR2032 batteries. No change. The Lexus dealer in Thousand Oaks wanted her to flatbed it over, wait three days for diagnostics, then possibly order parts. She needed the car for work tomorrow.
I met her in her driveway with my Techstream setup. The HYQ14FLB fobs were transmitting fine, but the car's receiver wasn't hearing them. Common issue on these. I pulled up TSB L-SB-0041-13 on my tablet, showed her the bulletin about receiver module resets.
Ten minutes into the reset procedure, both keys started working again. Touch unlock on the handles, push-button start, all four buttons on each fob. The receiver just needed its memory cleared and re-synced.
She asked what the dealer would have charged. I told her they'd probably replace the whole receiver module at around a grand, maybe more. Instead, she got it fixed in her own driveway for a fraction of that, and made it to work the next morning with both keys working perfectly.
