I got a call from a doctor at a medical building off Gonzales Road in Oxnard's South Bank area on a Tuesday morning. Her RC fob had been acting up for a week, intermittent lock response, the car sometimes not detecting her approach, and then that morning it stopped working entirely. She had a full patient schedule and zero time to deal with a dealer.
She told me she had already called the Lexus service center. First available appointment was four days out, they weren't sure they had the fob in stock, and she would need to arrange a tow because the car needed to be at the dealership. That was before she even asked about price.

I pulled the fob apart on the hood and the battery contact on one clip had a visible bend and some surface oxidation. That was part of the problem. New fob body, transferred the internals correctly, fresh CR2032 seated flat. Then connected through the OBD port and registered the fob to the vehicle security system. The RC accepted the new key without a fight.
I walked every function before she came back down: door handles, lock, unlock, the other buttons, and verified the push-to-start saw the fob consistently from the driver seat. Everything clean.
She was back with a patient before her break ended. Her car never left the garage. Whatever the dealer would have charged, plus a tow, plus four days of waiting, she skipped all of it.
