Got a call from the South Bank neighborhood in Oxnard. A woman with a 2020 Lexus RC said her only smart key had been sitting in a jacket pocket that went through the wash. The fob looked fine on the outside, but when she held it to the start button, the dash just threw "Key not detected" over and over.

The Toyota/Lexus security protocol on these is DST-AES encryption on a Texas Instruments transponder, the same handshake the dealer's Techstream runs. My tool does the same thing in the driveway.
Cut the emergency insert blade on site. Programmed the new fob. Tested every button: lock, unlock, trunk, panic. Checked that the door handle proximity pickup was reading on both sides. Ran the push-button start three times cold.
She sat in the driver's seat for the last start test and just held the steering wheel for a second, relieved. Whole thing took about 30 minutes. No tow, no wait, a fraction of what the dealer quoted.
