1997 Lincoln Town Car Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was parked on the street in Meiners Oaks, finishing up notes from the previous call, when the message came in. A guy had a 1997 Town Car sitting in a lot near downtown Ojai. No keys at all. Previous owner had kept one key and it never made it to the sale. Happened all the time with these older Lincolns changing hands.
When I got there, the car was clean. Low miles for the year, original door seals still doing their job. He had the title and his ID, so we handled that quickly and I got to work.
I decoded the driver door lock cylinder right on the car. Took a few minutes. Once I had the cut, I traced it against the key blank, cut the replacement on my portable machine in the van, and had a working key in his hand before the parking meter situation became a real conversation.
He mentioned he had called the dealer earlier in the week. They told him to tow it in, wait for a parts order, and come back. He didn't want to do all that for a car he had just bought. I understood. A job like this doesn't need a service bay. It needs someone who shows up with the right tools and knows how to read a lock cylinder.
