Got a call from a guy over in the La Colonia neighborhood in Oxnard. His 2008 Lincoln Town Car was parked on the street, key snapped clean inside the driver's door lock. Blade broke right at the shoulder.
He had already called another locksmith who told him the cylinder needed to be drilled out. New cylinder, new key, the whole teardown. He was looking at a big bill and a long wait for parts.
I showed up with my FO38 Lishi tool. Slid it in alongside the broken fragment, worked the piece out without touching the wafer surfaces. No drill, no damage. The lock looked exactly the way it did before the key broke.
Once the fragment was out, I decoded the lock by reading each wafer position directly. Cut two fresh H75 blades on site from that decode. His car uses the CWTWB1U793 remote head with the 4D/63 80-bit transponder, so both keys needed PATS programming through the OBD-II port. The system runs a ten-minute security timer per key during registration. Boring wait, but it is what it is.
Tested both remotes, cycled the lock, unlock, and trunk buttons, confirmed the PATS theft light dropped out on each start. He kept looking at the door lock like he expected to see scratches. Nothing there.
Destructive entry should be a last resort, not a first offer.
